Every year my family and I go on a trip to Florida for a spring break trip. Sometimes we stay with family and more recently we've been renting places that are right on a beach. Or one of the costal Key island. In 2010 we rented and stayed at a place called Beach Castle Resort in Long Boat Key Florida. The resort is situated on both sides of the road that goes all the way from the north side of the island to the south side of the island. Essentially, there is an 8 unit building that has two floors and 4 units per level. Across the road is the pool, and a coule of multi unit buildings with varying floor plans. Also if you go all the way to the back of the lot the resort has a dock with some human powered water craft. We had brought with us our dinghy which is from our larger boat which we keep in Chicago. So at the beginning of the week we put it in the water at a launch ramp up the road and kept it on the beach in the back lagoon. The walk wasn't too bad or long to get to the boat so I went nearly every day exploring the inlets and the houses that were on both sides of the channels I went into. I was also able to take the dinghy all the way around the island and even get myself some lunch at a roadside stop at the south side of the island. The reason we chose the Beach Castle Resort was so that we could all do what we wanted. My wife and the girls would head down to the beach every day, while I would start out my days checking my email, and then head back to the boat. My son would normally go both ways. At the time he was only two so we had to keep tabs on him pretty good. Every year my family and I go on a trip to Florida for a spring break trip. My Beach Castle Resort Long Boat Key in Florida
It's been almost a year and a half since we visited but I still remember the funny quirks with the unit we stayed in. One of the strangest things about this place was the way that the electrical system was done. Take for example, if you go rushing into the bathroom and need to turn on a light, you need to do it in the bedroom on your way into the toilet. Because if you don't you'll be sitting in the dark flipping switches wondering why the light won't go on. In the kitchen there were other things we couldn't figure out either. There were switches on the wall but nothing seemed to happen when you turned them on or off. There were also outlets that didn't work even though all the circuit breakers were in good condition. The internet access which was supposed to be a working part of the fee simply would not work the entire week. The phone was active but the internet service was not activated as we heard the ownership of that particular unit had recently changed hands. Luckily, I was able to make friends with a person in the unit below us to piggyback onto their internet access. I am a tmobile user and not that this is in any way the responsibility of the management but they tmobile map showed this area as part of their coverage. The only way I could barely get a signal was if I went out onto the deck/lanai area on the north edge of the unit. There was a foot shower that people could use coming back from the beach but it could use some improvements.. All in all, we still had a great time and would even still reccommend the beach castle resort to anyone wanting to try it out.

Photo and Video albums are very easy to create. First you need to click on the MY Photo Albums link on your menu to the left. Then click on "Add New Photo Album". In the form, give your photo album a title / name. Then Type the author. Next set the Default Permissions (this will determine who is allowed to see your pictures and videos). Next, type a description for this photo album. It could be a trip you took, a car or boat you're selling, a funny thing that happened or whatever. Then save your album information. Now, for the whichever album you wish to add pictures to, Click the "Add Multi Photos Form" link. A separate Popup like window will appear with your title and description in it on the left side. On the right side, a Java Applet will open which will allow you to select either full directories/folders or many individual files. You can select up to 100 mb of pictures in a single upload. The Java Applet will resize all the pictures on your computer and then upload them to the server. Wait for it to complete on it's own. Do not close the window. You can leave it working in the background while doing other things. Upon completion, it will most likely say, Document Contains No Data. This means it worked! At this point, if you want to add more pictures to the same album, you can select and send more pictures. Close the window, click on the My Photo Albums link to refresh the My Photo Albums page. You should see your pictures appear here.

This $600 car is no toy and is ready to be released in China next year.
The single seater aero car totes VW (Volkswagen) branding.
Volkswagen did a lot of very highly protected testing of this car in Germany, but it was not announced until now where the car would make it's first appearance. The car was introduced at the VW stockholders meeting as the most economical car in the world is presented. The initial objective of the prototype was to prove that 1 liter of fuel could deliver 100 kilos of travel. Spartan interior doesn't sacrifice safety
The aero design proved essential to getting the desired result. The body is 3.47 meters long and just 1.25 meters wide, and a little over a meter high. The prototype was made completely of carbon fiber and is not painted to save weight.
The power plant is a one cylinder diesel positioned ahead of the rear axle and combined with an automatic shift controlled by a knob in the interior. Safety was not compromised as the impact and roll-over protection is comparable to the GT racing cars.

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $2.00 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $3.30 at Arco and Costco for regular unleaded in Salem , Oregon and climbing every week.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $2.50 - $3.25, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace..not sellers.
With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action.
The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And, we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.
How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.
But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL.
If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.
But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do! Now, don't wimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!
I am sending this note to 30 people. If each of us send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) ... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000)... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth group of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers .
If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all!
(If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people... Well, let's face it, you just aren’t a mathematician. But I am. So trust me on this one.
How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!
I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

WHAT WILL the car thieves THINK OF NEXT? The car thieves peer through the windshield of your car or vehicle,
write down the VIN # from the label on the dash, go to the local car dealership and request a duplicate key based on the VIN #.
I didn't believe this e-mail, so I called Chrysler-Dodge and pretended I had lost my keys. They told me to just bring in the VIN #, and they would cut me one on the spot, and I could order the keyless device if I wanted.
The Car Dealer's Parts Department will make a duplicate key from the VIN #, and collect payment from the thief who will return to your car.
He doesn't have to break in, do any damage to the vehicle, or draw attention to himself. All he has to do is walk up to your car, insert the key and off he goes to a local chop shop with your vehicle.
You don't believe it? It IS that EASY.
To avoid this from happening to you, simply put some dark tape (electrical tape, duct tape or medical tape) across the VIN Number Metal Label located on the dashboard.

Sheriff Reminds Resident of New Traffic Laws for 2010
Sheriff John Zaruba would like to remind residents of a few new laws taking effect January 1st. These new laws are intended to reduce crashes and save lives by reducing distracted driving on Illinois’ roadways.
The new laws ban motorists from sending text messages while driving in Illinois, and make it illegal to talk on a cell phone while driving through a highway construction zone or school zone. In addition, it will become illegal to compose, send or read text messages, instant messages and e-mail on a cell phone or surf the internet while driving. The ban also includes personal digital assistants and portable or mobile computers, but does not include global positioning systems (GPS) or navigation systems.
Also taking effective on January 1st is a new law regarding driving an uninsured motor vehicle causing bodily harm. If you are involved in an accident with injuries, and you do not have motor vehicle insurance, you will now be charged with a Class A Misdemeanor, instead of a traffic citation for this offense.
“I urge anyone who has any questions on these new traffic laws, to contact my Community Resource Unit at 630-407-2317 so that your questions can be answered,” Sheriff Zaruba said. “These new laws are important and will make our roads safer for all motorists of DuPage County,” he continued.

How to LOCK your car and why!!! |
I locked my car As I walked away I heard my car door unlock. I went back and locked my car again three times. Each time, as soon as I started to walk away, I would hear it unlock again!! Naturally alarmed, I looked around and there were two guys sitting in a car in the fire lane next to the store. They were obviously watching me intently, and there was no doubt they were somehow involved in this very weird situation. I quickly chucked the errand I was on, jumped in my car and sped away. I went straight t o the police station, told them what had happened, and found out I was part of a new, and very successful, scheme being used to gain entry into cars. Two weeks later, my friend's son had a similar happening... While traveling, my friend's son stopped at a roadside rest to use the bathroom. When he came out to his car less than 4-5 minutes later, someone had gotten into his car and stolen his cell phone, laptop computer, GPS navigator, briefcase.....you name it. He called the police and since there were no signs of his car being broken into, the police told him he had been a victim of the latest robbery tactic -- there is a device that robbers are using now to clone your security code when you lock your doors on your car using your key-chain locking device... They sit a distance away and watch for their next victim. They know you are going inside of the store, restaurant, or bathroom and that they now have a few minutes to steal and run. The police officer said to manually lock your car door-by hitting the lock button inside the car -- that way if there is someone sitting in a parking lot watching for their next victim, it will not be you. When you hit the lock button on your car upon exiting, it does not send the security code, but if you walk away and use the door lock on your key chain, it sends the code through the airwaves where it can be instantly stolen. This is very real. Be wisely aware of what you just read and please pass this note on. Look how many times we all lock our doors with our remote just to be sure we remembered to lock them -- and bingo, someone has our code...and whatever was in our car. There's something the Democratic lawmakers who are pushing cap-and-trade legislation don't want the public to know. The controversial climate-change legislation winding its way through Congress will impose a massive new national gas tax on the American people. We discovered this by analyzing what the Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill would do to gas prices and what Americans spend on gasoline, diesel and jet fuels. We found that cap-and-trade [[TAX]] legislation will levy a $3.6 trillion gas-tax increase that will impact every American and important segments of our economy.
The goal of this climate-change legislation is actually to increase the price of traditional forms of carbon-based energy such as coal, gas and oil so that consumers will respond by using less of it. Some lawmakers call this "setting the price on carbon." Economists refer to this kind of policy as a price signal. But the bottom line is that the price of energy will go up. Ultimately, all Americans will pay directly or indirectly for the higher fuel prices the cap-and-trade legislation will cause.
Americans travel more than 200 million vehicle miles each month, and annually we spend nearly $1.2 trillion on gasoline and oil. The average household spends 5 percent of its annual budget on fuel. For many, gasoline is a mandatory expense. And this legislation disproportionately hits middle and lower income households that tend to have longer commutes to work and must drive in order to work. These families will be hit especially hard by the projected $1 per gallon increase for the additional gas tax the cap-and-trade legislation will bring.
Further, Americans will be double-hit by the gas tax when it raises the costs of goods and services such as groceries and utilities they must continue to purchase. Energy costs are among businesses' top operational expenses already. While companies face a variety of energy expenses, ranging from heating and cooling their work space to powering equipment and lighting, operating their vehicles is the most costly. Every company, from the small-town local florist to a package delivery service with nationwide operations, will be hard hit. In order for these businesses to withstand the heavier tax burden and to remain profitable, they will be forced to pass these energy cost increases along to consumers through higher prices.
Several industries will be penalized more severely by the gas tax than others. Our nation's farmers and ranchers, who are tasked with producing high-quality goods for much of the world, will be harmed by Waxman-Markey's $2 trillion tax on gasoline and $1.3 trillion tax on diesel fuel. Gas- and diesel-powered equipment, ranging from tractors to combines to fertilizing systems, are the operational foundation of American farms and ranches. Under the climate-change legislation, they will face $550 million in higher fuel costs in 2020 and $1.65 billion in 2050.
The American trucking industry will be another target of the cap-and-trade gas tax. In 2007, 1.7 million drivers of tractor-trailers logged 145 billion vehicle miles, consuming 28.5 billion gallons of fuel. That equates to $34,560 in annual fuel costs per driver. That number will skyrocket under Waxman-Markey. And when you consider that the average self-employed truck driver earns $43,545 in net revenue, the gas tax is essentially a new tax on the middle class. Of course, truckers will not suffer these higher gas taxes alone. Their costs are shared by all consumers. At some point, nearly everything bought or sold must be shipped from a manufacturer to a retailer. Thus, the sweeping effects of the gas tax will actually harm our entire economy.
Despite all this pain for families, farmers, truckers and businesses, there is no gain for our environment. Even U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa P. Jackson admits that unless China and India impose similar draconian taxes and regulations, there will be no effect on world temperatures. So what is the purpose of the increase in costs to every American, and the consequent loss of jobs, if they will not have an effect on the global environment?
Under the majority congressional leadership, trillion-dollar figures have been discussed so nonchalantly in Washington recently that, unfortunately, they're starting to lose their shock value. Americans must know that the $3.6 trillion gas tax is a very real number with consequences for all of us. That is why we will fight the Waxman-Markey and Kerry-Boxer bills. We can improve the environment and economy through American ingenuity and technological advancement, not with taxes and mandates that increase costs and burden American families and businesses.

Keeping the Junkie Hooked up |
Keeping the junkie hooked up is what they called it when the reagan administration got the gas prices back down in the early 90's. The big oil OPEC guys in Saudi Arabia said on a 60 minutes program that they want oil per barrel prices to go to $75. A price that I don't think is quite low enough to restabilize the consumer fears on future automobile purchases. They said that they have at least 50 years worth of oil in that one single oil field and are ready to tap the field. It was also said that the oil only costs them around $2 per barrel to get it out of the ground. So they are wanting a $73 profit per barrel. This price per barrel is about where people stopped buying cars like they used to because they were afraid of where things were going. So, if the oil guys really want to stay in business, they need to do what they did in the 90's by keeping the junkie hooked up. I think that if people had some assurance that prices per gallon weren't going to skyrocket again that people would find their way to their new car dealers to buy more new cars. But with all the volatility in the oil market and prices going back up I don't see any end in sight to suggest that people are going to race to the dealership to buy the new cars on the lot. If they push prices back higher like they have been over the past few years, then I fear that we're not going to recover from the slump were in. If there is some way that the government can enforce a plan to stabilize the energy prices. Can anyone remember a time when their car payments were higher than the cost to operate it? I can. This past summer I was paying over $1000 per month to drive my Yukon. I traded it in on a Jetta. What have you done to get by and what are your thoughts on what should be done?
